Why I became a Lion –Ed Hettermann

If you enjoy helping people, along with meeting your neighbors and having fun, (like I do!) this is the community service organization that is the right one for you! Our thirty - eight member, men and women, strong organization has accomplished some pretty amazing things in it's twenty - plus year history. Along with the aiding of site and hearing impaired individuals of our community, acquiring leader dog's for our resident's, who experience that need. The Johnsburg Lion's Club has been the leader in providing charitable contribution's, for many of our communities worthwhile causes, such as donations towards Johnsburg School District #12, Light the field (high school football field), Young Authors program, Drug abuse awareness programs, Defibrillator's for Athletic fields, Public schools,  Private schools, Libraries, Village hall, Baseball and Soccer fields and many of our communities other meeting places, band uniforms for the High School Band, not to mention sight and hearing screening for both Johnsburg School District #12 and St. John's parochial school student's. The Lion's have supported other community organizations, like the The Johnsburg Community Club, by replacing all of the outside lighting and electrical equipment, so once again our community would have a safe place to host it's annual  Saufen & Spiel event. Along with sponsoring Banjo Beer Night on Saufen & Spiel weekend, they have contributed to the Village of Johnsburg by constructing picnic shelters, rest rooms and concession stands along with sponsoring Girl & Boy Scout projects, that have provided picnic tables, trash container's and benches for all of the villages parks. They have also supported other community efforts, such as Johnsburg Police Charities, (or Shop with a cop) that provides children who our less fortunate , than many others, the opportunity to do Holiday shopping for there families and themselves. These examples are only a few of the thing's you will be part of, when you make the commitment, of living up to our motto of "WE SERVE".
